The Prosecutor’s Office asks for six years in prison for two protesters for altercations during a Vox act in Barcelona




The Court of Barcelona judge this Tuesday two protesters, accused of public disorder during a Vox act in Barcelona. It was during a protest, called by Arran, ‘cubs’ of the CUP, when several individuals burned containers and threw stones and bottles at some members of the party.

It happened on February 8, 2019, in front of a pizzeria in the Eixample. A group of protesters gathered there, about 15, hooded and wearing masks, including the two defendants. One of them threw a toolbox against a member of Vox, while the other threw a glass bottle against the door of the premises when two other people tried to access its interior.

The altercations did not end there. while the Mossos d’Esquadra deployed tried to disperse the rioters, one of those investigated threw stones at the agents, and placed fences in the middle of the street to hinder their advance, according to the indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Another of them tried to flee from the uniformed men and hide in a nail salon, but those who were inside, frightened, prevented him from entering. It was then that the individual kicked the blind, causing damage worth 400 euros, according to the expert report.

During the search after being arrested, the agents saw that he was carrying a one-meter iron chain, while the rest was carrying flares and firecrackers.

The The Prosecutor’s Office asks for each of them six years in prison for a crime of public disorder. In addition, for one he also requests a fine of 7,200 euros for a minor crime of damage, and for the rest, 400 euros for the damage caused in the room.
