The Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands activated yesterday afternoon a rescue helicopter to assist a 24-year-old woman who had fallen into the crater of a volcano in Fuerteventura.
At 4:26 p.m. the service received a call warning that in the crater of a volcano in Fuerteventura, specifically in the Calderon Hondo volcano, in the municipality of La Oliva, a hiker was injured and needed medical assistance.
The woman presented a lower limb trauma of a moderate nature, so the GES helicopter team, after locating the injured person, immobilized her and proceeded to rescue her. Once safe, he transferred her to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura.
The Firefighters and the Civil Guard also participated in the intervention, who collaborated with the GES in the rescue tasks.
