The Community will invest 156 million in works in 38 educational centers to adapt them to the drop in ratio
The Government of the Community of Madrid, chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, will invest this year €156 million in carrying out works in 38 public educational centers in the region to adapt them to the drop in the ratio, from 25 to 20 students, which will start next year.
With this investment, which increases by 75% compared to last year, 10,220 places will be created, as detailed by the Minister of Education, Science and Universities and spokesman for the regional Executive, Enrique Ossorio, this Friday at the IES Simone Veil, in Paracuellos of the Jaram.
Work has already begun on this institute, which will involve the creation of 600 new public educational places, with a total investment of 7 million.
It will open 20 new Compulsory Secondary Education classrooms, specific for splitting and support, a gym and a sports court at the service of students.
In addition to these works, as explained by the counselor, they are already starting those of another 13 centers that will come into operation for the next school year 2022/23.
It is about the IES Monserrat Caballé, of Tres Cantos; the Center for Early Childhood and Primary Education (CEIP) Charles Dickens, in Loeches; CEIP Gabriela Morreale, from Leganés; CEIP María de Villota, located in the Ensanche de Vallecas in Madrid; the IES Las Canteras, in Collado de Villalba; the CEIP Heroes May 2 of Colmenar Viejo; the IES Pedro Pérez Llorca, from Parla; the IES Blanca Fernandez Ochoa, in the Montecarmelo neighborhood in Madrid; the Compulsory Infant, Primary and Secondary Education Center -CEIPSO- La Luna, in Rivas-Vaciamadrid; the CEIP Los Tempranales, from San Sebastián de los Reyes; the IES Elisa Soriano Fisher, from Getafe; the IES Isabel la Católica, in Boadilla del Monte; and the Friends of Peace Grouped Rural Center in Anchuelo. All these actions will involve a public investment of 60 million.
Soon, during the months of February and March, the construction of another 5 public educational infrastructures will begin with an investment of 14 million euros. This is the CEIPSO La Luna gym in Rivas-Vaciamadrid; the extension of the IES Diego de Velázquez, in Torrelodones; the completion of the IES of Cubas de la Sagra; the new Valdemoro Special Education College and the CEIP Hispanidad, in Rivas-Vaciamadrid.
In addition, and also during this year, the construction of other public centers will begin, among which two new institutes stand out, the IES Ana Frank and the IES of the Butarque neighborhood (both in Madrid), and the completion phase of the CEIP Andrea Casamayor , in Paracuellos de Jarama.
With this, the aim is to adapt the centers to the Community’s plan to reduce the ratio from 25 to 20 students per classroom, which will begin in the first year of Early Childhood Education during the 2022/23 school year. Subsequently, it will be implemented at all educational levels.
Public job offer
On the other hand, Ossorio has recalled that the Community of Madrid will convene 5,500 places for Primary teachers and Secondary Education and Vocational Training teachers for the next two courses.
“With this we want to counteract the new action of the Government of the Nation, which is going to approve a royal decree in the coming weeks based on which what is rewarded is seniority and not knowledge. It is something that we are totally against,” he stressed. In his opinion, with this system “many very well-prepared young people, who could provide great services, are not going to be able to enter.”
Ossorio has stressed that they are not against job stability, since they are working to promote it, but he considers that this cannot be done “by lowering the quality of the staff”.
