The latest data from the JTWC, the tropical cyclone, CT, was more than 900 km southwest of Diego Garcia

The system is in a marginally favorable environment, with very warm water temperatures (28-29 ºC), low wind shear although the surrounding air is somewhat dry.

The system will move westward over open water with tendencies to intensify.
