The Chilean Justice granted conditional release to Facundo Jones Huala
The Chilean Justice today granted conditional release to Facundo Jones Huala, leader of the Mapuche Ancestral Resistance, who was serving a nine-year sentence in the country for having participated in 2013 in the fire of a property in the Pisu Pisue field, near Valdivia. He had also been sentenced to another three years for possession of a homemade firearm.
As published by Rio Negro Newspaper, Yesterday, the Temuco Court of Appeals accepted the amparo appeal presented by the Mapuche leader’s defense and decided to grant him the benefit of parole, in order to leave the Temuco Penitentiary Compliance Center where he was being held.
