Boca – Universidad de Chile: Battaglia’s team seeks a place in the final of the International Summer Tournament
Boca faces on Friday night with University of Chile, in search of the final of the International Summer Tournament. The match, corresponding to Group A, is played at the Estadio Uno de La Plata, with arbitration by Fernando Rapallini and broadcast by Fox Sports Premium and the Star+ platform.
The 2022 model of the team led by Sebastián Battaglia is measured against another Chilean team, after last Monday’s victory against Colo Colo by 2-0, with goals from Diego González and Exequiel Zeballos. The xeneize team needs only a draw to get into the final of the tournament, which will be against the winner of Group B made up of San Lorenzo, Independiente and Talleres.
Striker Cristian Pavón will be absent again, who is training with the reserve while defining his future. The Cordovan’s contract ends on June 30 and at the moment he has no offers to emigrate or to renew.
While testing on the field, with several substitutes and with the entry of Agustín Almendra, having overcome the conflict with the coach, the Boca World is celebrating the return of a prodigal son. Darío Benedetto affirmed today that he made the decision to return to Boca with his “heart” without thinking about the context and that the “responsibility” of going for the Copa Libertadores will not weigh him down knowing that they are “candidates” in all competitions.
“We know very well the goals we have, mainly the Libertadores. I accept any responsibility, I want to enjoy the moment and I have no problem taking charge. I want to adapt quickly to the squad and the coach”, he pointed out in the first conference as a club footballer. And he detailed how his return took place: “Román called me in 2021 when Olympique de Marseille wanted to give me a loan and there I told him that I wanted to play a season in Spain but when I did not feel important in Elche, I called him to come back. I decided with my heart, I didn’t think about how the country is, or anything.”
Universidad de Chile debuted in the tournament with a defeat (2-1) in the classic against Colo Colo and needs to win to reach the final. The team led by Colombian Santiago Escobar is preparing for the Chilean tournament after a difficult season, as they fought for permanence in the first division until the last date.
