San Antón is celebrated after two years without acts due to Covid




The mayor of Toledo, Milagros Tolón, has participated this Sunday in the traditional acts in honor to San Anton organized by the Brotherhood Brotherhood San Antonio Abad de Toledo in the hermitage of this Toledan neighborhood where the Eucharist and subsequent blessing of animals took place by the parish priest of San Julián, Jesús Martín.

Accompanied by the mayor of Culture, Teo García, and the councilor for Parks and Gardens, Marta Medina, among other members of the Corporation, the mayor recalled that after two years without these festivities that are so deeply rooted in Toledo and, specifically, in the neighborhood of San Antón, “today we can share with Toledo men and women this event that every January brings us back to our traditions”.

For this reason, he added, “it is an important day because we start the year by going back to our traditions in a very historic neighborhood that throws itself into this celebration and it shows that there is a great desire for Toledo to vibrate again in traditions like this one that since It has been almost two years since they have been held”, the mayor has expressed.

Also, on Saturday night there was the lighting of the bonfire and neighborhood coexistence around the fire.

In this edition of the festivities and as a result of the pandemic, the procession of the Saint through the streets of the neighborhood has not taken place, although one of the most endearing moments has not been lacking, such as the blessing of bread rolls, domestic animals and the celebration of the auction .
