Djokovic: “I am very disappointed with the sentence”

are the first words of Novak Djokovic after a Federal Court has canceled your visa and ordered your deportation. The Serbian has sent a statement in which he says he respects the decision of the judges, but that he feels “extremely disappointed” with said resolution.

“I want to make a brief statement about what happened today at the hearing. I’ll take some time to rest and recover before making any other comments beyond this one.

I’m extremely disappointed with the resolution of the Court annulling my appeal to review the cancellation of my visa decided by the Minister of Immigration. Which means I can’t stay in Australia and play the Grand Slam.

I respect the sentence and I will collaborate with the authorities in my departure from the country».

And about what happened in these last two weeks, he indicates: «I feel uncomfortable for being the center of attention these days and I hope that now the spotlight is on tennis and the tournament that I love. I want to wish all the players, officials, staff, volunteers and fans all the best for the tournament.

Finally, I want to thank my family, my friends, my team, my fans and my fellow Serbs for their continued support. You have been my great source of courage.

See them
