An icon of beauty. Cher: we discovered a striking detail in the make up campaign that she starred in
If it is about embodying permanence, she is the right person. Cher (his real name is Cherilyn Sarkisian) is a pop culture legend and, to stay current, she has been constantly reinventing herself since the 1960s, when she began her career with her then-husband, Sonny Bono (whom she separated from in 1974 and who died in 1998). In these five decades, Cher not only recycled herself musically, but also renewed her image over and over again and, at 75, her singular beauty is celebrated. The actress and singer stars –along with the rapper Saweetie– in a campaign for the MAC Cosmetics brand that highlights the long-lasting make-up.
“It is a challenge to be different and to be valued. It’s great that people are learning to appreciate and love other people for their appearance,” said Cher about the reasons for her participation in the campaign “Challenge Accepted” (challenge accepted, in English), which has a special detail: her couturier favorite, Bob Mackie, recreated a design of his very similar to the one that the artist wore in 1974 for the Met Gala. Made of transparent tulle and white embroidery, the dress shows that Cher’s silhouette is almost the same 48 years later.
