Brazil: former judge Sergio Moro, emblem of Lava Jato, tested positive for Covid
The former emblem judge of Lava Jato and Brazilian presidential candidate, Sergio Moro, confirmed today on Twitter that he gave coronavirus positive.
“I tested positive for Covid, as I had taken the three doses of the vaccine I am without symptoms”, revealed Moro from his Twitter account, when clarifying his state of health after being infected with coronavirus.
”I am going to comply with the isolation protocols, so some commitments will have to be rescheduled. Everyone’s health always first. Take care, “concluded the former magistrate.
Moro led the Lava Jato anti-corruption process between 2014 and 2018, and then was Minister of Justice in the government of President Jair Bolsonaro, between 2019 and 2020. At the end of last year, the former judge was launched as a presidential candidate for the conservative Podemos party.
According to LA NACION, Podemos is a small center party, with a bench of 11 representatives in the Senate and only 11 deputies. The space chosen by Moro is led by the senator for Paraná Álvaro Dias, the party has maintained as its main slogan the support of the Lava Jato operation and the fight against corruption, for which it became the natural destiny of the former magistrate.
Moro is preparing to run for the presidency with an anti-corruption platform and has strengthened his place as the third candidate, with 11% support, according to a survey carried out by the consulting firm Ideia, published Thursday by the economic weekly Exame.
