How many days of isolation do I have to do if I am Covid positive

Yesterday 131,082 new positive cases of coronavirus were registered in the country in the last 24 hours. The omicron variant continues to expand rapidly, and its most common symptoms include headache, sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, and sneezing.

The day before yesterday, during a meeting of the Federal Health Council (Cofesa), new recommendations were agreed for suspected cases of Covid. What should be done according to Ministry of Health of the Nation in each case?

Only those who received the last dose less than five months ago must be isolated for seven days from the date of onset of symptoms (or from the date of diagnosis in asymptomatic patients).

After the seventh day, those who do not present symptoms for at least 48 hours before, may leave the isolation but they will have to respect the care measures: wear a mask, maintain social distance, avoid contact with risky people and they will not be able to attend mass or social events for the next three days.

They may choose to two options:

How is the protocol for close contacts?

Close contact is considered to be any person who has been in close contact with distance less than two meters with a confirmed case while it was presenting symptoms, or during the 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms, for at least 15 minutes. What happens in these cases?

They will be exempted from preventive isolation as long as they comply with the care measures.

They are considered to have the complete vaccination schedule as long as the last dose was given less than five months ago. In these cases, will be exempted from preventive isolation but, in addition to complying with the care measures, they will have to take a test between the third and fifth day.

In this situation, which refers to those without vaccination or with more than five months of application of the last dose, they must comply ten days of isolation from the moment of the last contact with a confirmed case of Covid.

For those under 60 years of age who do not have risk factors, it is not necessary to perform a test to confirm the diagnosis: the positive case of Covid is confirmed by clinical and epidemiological criteria.

In these cases, it is necessary to report it in the Caring application. In addition to isolation, people with whom contact was made 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms must be notified so that they comply with the recommended measures.

It is recommended that those who have respiratory distress, the symptoms do not improve or worsen, consult a doctor.
