The Three Wise Men arrive in the region with cold, rain and restrictions due to Covid
Their Majesties the Kings of the East They have fulfilled, one more year, their appointment with the little ones. Castilla-La Mancha received, although with less influx of people through the streets, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltazar, who, due to the sanitary restrictions caused by the increase in Covid-19 infections, toured the cities and towns without handing out candy, but loaded with thousands of gifts.
During the parades, the use of a mask has been mandatory, avoiding crowds as much as possible, as well as following the recommendations made by local authorities, civil protection and the local police. And it is that the afternoon of this Wednesday, January 5, rainy was expected in many cities and towns of Castilla-La Mancha, which caused that some municipalities have made last minute changes so that the cavalcades of the Magi could take place with relative normality.
In Ciudad Real, the Cavalcade of the Magi has been brought forward at 4.15 pm to prevent the parade from being affected by the rain. They have also planned that their majesties make the journey on the little train, although it has not been necessary. Sources from the City Council of Ciudad Real have confirmed to ABC that the parade has been able to develop normally, having advanced two hours. The people from Ciudad Real did not miss their appointment with Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar, who made the tour through the main streets of the city to avoid a greater concentration of the public. After concluding the parade, the rain made an appearance in the city.
In the case of the Tarancón City Council, the Government team has decided to suspend the Three Kings parade and has moved to this Thursday, with the aim that the local children can say goodbye to Their Majesties before leaving for the East.
In Albacete, given the drop in temperatures, the municipal authorities have made a first stop at the Benefit Association of the Sacred Heart, better known as Cotolengo, where they have been able to greet the users of the “Miguel Muñoz de Gea” Residence in Asprona. Accompanied by the mayor, Emilio Sáez, and other members of the municipal corporation, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar have fulfilled this long-awaited tradition, before going to meet the children of Albacete in the bullring.
Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar arrived at the Plaza de Toros de Albacete in impressive horse carriages, being received by thousands of children and adults, who showed their joy for this visit. After this meeting, everyone could enjoy the children’s musical show Pica Pica. The mayor of Albacete, Emilio Sáez -who has received the magicians of the East- has taken advantage of this visit to ask for health for all Albaceteans and has had words of memories for the people who have left us in this pandemic.
The Kings in the districts of Cuenca
On the other hand, their majesties have also had time to walk the streets of the districts of Mohorte, La Melgosa and Nohales, neighborhoods to which they have arrived escorted by the local police and mobility agents in a Civil Protection vehicle, greeting the children who have come to see them defying the intense cold and full of illusion.
After this visit, the magicians from the East went to Cuenca, which has extended the route to three kilometers (instead of one, as was usual) in order to avoid crowds. The procession started on Avenida Juan Carlos I at 6:00 p.m. and will travel, for approximately two and a half hours, Hermanos Becerril, Fermín Caballero, Calle Cervantes, José Cobo and Carretería, ending at Plaza de la Constitución.
