The Lleida squad denies the Covid outbreak that has suspended their match
After what the Lleida announce that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) had postponed his match scheduled for next Sunday against Numancia at the Los Pajaritos stadium in Soria due to the covid outbreak suffered by the Catalan team, the ilerdense squad has made public a statement clarifying that, currently, for that match only one player and the team’s coach would be absent.
La RFEF has communicated this Wednesday the postponement of the CD Numancia-Lleida, corresponding to matchday 17 of the RFEF Second Division, due to the Covid-19 outbreak that has occurred in the Catalan team and has explained that it will soon announce the new date for that meeting. The Catalan club reported this morning of the existence of two new positive cases on their staff, bringing the total number to nine.
However, according to the statement signed by the squad and coaching staff, the entity has included a player who does not have a record and who, therefore, could not play the match, as well as club personnel who have nothing to do with the part sporty.
After informing the Catalan entity of two new cases in the club, the staff and the coaching staff of Lleida have come to the step of the information transmitted and have made public a statement clarifying the status of those affected and when they will rejoin the team. In this sense, the note ensures that the two new cases are club personnel with whom the players have not had contact.
In their statement, the staff and the coaching staff explain that, to date, they are not aware that there are more positive cases, “after numerous tests purchased and performed by us, so the total number of casualties due to Covid-19 to compete on January 9 belongs to a player and the coach Gabri García ».
Lleida has been living a very consultative situation for months due to the repeated defaults suffered by the staff. Players and coaching staff appeared publicly in December to denounce their precarious situation due to financial breaches by the club.
