The director of the Department of Public Health and Environment of the World Health Organization (WHO), María Neira, has warned that climate change “is something that is already happening”, during her intervention in the presentation of the Report on Responsibility Social of the University of Coruña (UDC).
In it, the academic institution valued its research and social work during the pandemic. The rector of the UDC, Julio Abalde, and the president of the Social Council, Antonio Abril Abadín, highlighted the joint action of the public university and private companies to help advance society.
The event included, among others, the participation of the Director of Public Health and Environment of the World Health Organization (WHO), María Neira, who stressed that “climate change is something that is already happening and we have to act on it. ” “It is not about the future of the new generations,” he added.
The 2019/2020 Social Responsibility Report of the Coruña academic institution includes the contribution of the UDC to its environment in a context of uncertainty marked by Covid-19.
